Characteristics of growth, nutrient uptake, purification effect of Ipomoea aquatica, Lolium multiflorum, and Sorghum sudanense grown under different nitrogen levels

► The RGR and biomass culture in the NH4+, NH4NO3, and NO3− solution were compared. ► The NO3− stimulated NH4+ uptake, whereas, NH4+ suppressed NO3− uptake of species. ► The L. multiflorum adapt to treatment a high NH4+ nutrient levels wastewater. ► The S. sudanense has a high competitive advantage at high NO3− levels wastewater.
