The Fitts task reveals impairments in planning and online control of movement in Friedreich ataxia: reduced cerebellar-cortico connectivity?

▶People with Friedreich ataxia (FRDA) may have impairment in psychomotor capacity. ▶We used a motor task incorporating Fitts Law to further examine cognitive capacity. ▶People with FRDA were impaired moving to targets with greater index of difficulty. ▶Prefrontal regions are necessary for effective management of movement preplanning. ▶In FRDA disturbed cortico-cerebellar loops restricts access to prefrontal regions.
