Age-related auditory deficits in temporal processing in F-344 rats

▶Neural population responses were obtained for temporally modulated sound stimuli. ▶Evoked responses were compared between young and aged F-344 rats. ▶Modulation detection thresholds were elevated in aged animals for AM and FM sounds. ▶Age-related declines were observed at intermediate but not large modulation depths. ▶Aged animals showed decreased fidelity in encoding stimulus envelope shapes.
