Cerebral ischemia reduces expression of Hs1-associated protein X-1 (Hax-1) in mouse brain

► Cerebral ischemic models in vitro and in vivo are used. ► Neurons and brain endothelial cells expressed high level of Hax-1. ► Cerebral ischemia reduces expression of Hax-1. ► Reduction of Hax-1 is associated with more neuronal death induced by ischemia.
