The changes of ERG channel expression after administration of antiepileptic drugs in the hippocampus of epilepsy gerbil model

► ERG is related to seizure activity and cause of sudden unexpected death in epilepsy (SUDEP). ► ERG immunoreactivity in the hippocampus of SS gerbils was similar to that of SR gerbils. ► AEDs reduce the expression of ERG channel in the hippocampus of the SR and SS gerbils. ► AEDs enhanced paired-pulse inhibition in the hippocampus of the SR and SS gerbils. ► Influence of AEDs on ERG expression in the brain may not be relevant to SUDEP.
