Aβ plaque-associated glial reaction as a determinant of apoptotic neuronal death and cortical gliogenesis: A study in APP mutant mice

► TgCRND8 mice were used. ► Aβ-glial reaction-driven apoptosis and cortical gliogenesis were investigated. ► Apoptotic and inflammatory markers were highly expressed in the TgCRND8 mice. ► Neurons of TgCRND8 mice displayed higher nuclear expression of NF-kB than controls. ► Gliogenesis was present within Aβ plaques in the neocortex of TgCRND8 mice.
