Contributions to atmospheric dust production of natural and anthropogenic emissions in a recreational area designated for off-road vehicular activity (Nellis Dunes, Nevada, USA)

► Wind erosion and off-road vehicular activity are important sources of atmospheric dust. ► Sand surfaces produce large amounts of dust during wind erosion. ► Silt and clay surfaces produce large amounts of dust during off-road vehicular activity. ► In the Nellis Dunes area the annual amounts of dust produced by off-road vehicles and wind erosion are equal.
