Concentration of trace elements in feathers of three Antarctic penguins: Geographical and interspecific differences

► We study levels of trace elements in feathers of Antarctic penguins. ► Eight different rookeries throughout the Antarctic Peninsula were sampled. ► Interspecific (gentoo, chinstrap, Adélie) and geographical differences were tested. ► Relatively high metal levels were found in areas with major human presence. ► Penguin feather can be useful for metals monitoring in the Antarctic environment.
