Sources, lability and solubility of Pb in alluvial soils of the River Trent catchment, U.K.

► The labile pool of Pb in alluvial soils ranges from 9 to 56% of the total pool. ► The lability of Pb (as %) is negatively correlated with soil pH. ► Evidence for post-depositional vertical migration of petrol-derived Pb was found. ► Petrol Pb is enriched in the labile and pore water pools compared to the total pool.
