Aqueous leaching of di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate and “green” plasticizers from poly(vinyl chloride)

► Aqueous plasticizer leaching studied for several series of PVC plasticizers. ► Compared gravimetric analysis and gas chromatography analysis leaching measurement methods. ► Potential “green” plasticizers were compared to the common industrial plasticizer DEHP. ► Two succinate plasticizers showed reduced aqueous leaching rates compared to DEHP. ► Dihexyl maleate and DINCH showed reduced aqueous leaching rates compared to DEHP.
