Toxicity of Pb and of Pb/Cd combination on the springtail Folsomia candida in natural soils: Reproduction, growth and bioaccumulation as indicators

► The toxicity of Pb and Cd + Pb spiked in three soil types is evaluated on Collembola F. candida. ► Reproduction was the most significantly decreased in the acid and organic matter enriched soil. ► Bioaccumulation in collembolan from the soil solution was limited. ► The lowest Pb toxicity was in the carbonaceous soil. ► The toxicity was reduced when Cd and Pb were spiked in combination.
