Pronounced reduction of fluoride exposure in free-ranging deer in North Bohemia (Czech Republic) as indicated by the biomarkers skeletal fluoride content and dental fluorosis

► Wild deer are suitable bioindicators of fluoride pollution. ► Bone fluoride concentration and dental fluorosis are useful biomarkers of exposure to fluoride. ► In North Bohemia, a reduction of fluoride exposure of resident deer occurred since the mid 1990s. ► Emission control measures caused a marked decline of the fluoride deposition in North Bohemia.
