Association between testicular Aryl hydrocarbon Receptor levels and idiopathic male infertility: A case-control study in Iran

► Higher levels of AhR in Leydig, sertoli and spermatid cells of infertile men. ► Antagonistic relationships between AhR overexpression in Leydig cells and AR. ► Inactivation of ER, PgR and AR in AhR positive testicular cells. ► Significant association between MMP9 and AhR in Leydig cells of unexplained infertile men. ► AhR deregulates other genes which is a responsible mechanism in unexplained male infertility.
