Distribution of atmospheric mercury in northern Southeast Asia and South China Sea during Dongsha Experiment

► Atmospheric Hg was measured in Southeast Asia and over South China Sea (SCS). ► Elevated Hg concentrations were observed at all sites. ► Export of atmospheric Hg from the East Asian continent to SCS is demonstrated. ► Biomass burning and dust storm can also cause enhancements of Hg levels.
