Separation by competitive transport of uranium(VI) and thorium(IV) nitrates across supported renewable liquid membrane containing trioctylphosphine oxide as metal carrier

► We developed membrane based method for the separation of uranium from thorium. ► Consistency of transport is achieved by renewable liquid membrane technique. ► Hydraulic pressure of working solutions is used to avoid organic phase migration. ► Uranium is also decontaminated from lanthanides and other common impurities. ► Model equation of transport is derived for wider applicability of this method.
