Flow analysis and fouling on the patterned membrane surface

► Patterned membrane was effective in preventing fouling on the membrane surface. ► Experiments and simulation study were carried out for flat and patterned membranes. ► Microbial distribution coincided with the stress distribution on the pattern. ► The pattern should be designed by considering the local stress distribution.
