MODIS and ASTER synergy for characterizing thermal volcanic activity

► We examined thermal activity at 4 volcanoes over an 11 year period using satellites. ► The size and intensity of thermal anomalies were defined using ASTER and MODIS. ► A thermal precursor to lava flow at Kliuchevskoi was identified. ► Wavelet analysis was used to identify periods of oscillation in thermal activity.
