The hydrodynamic permeability and surface property of polyethersulfone ultrafiltration membranes with mussel-inspired polydopamine coatings

► Polydopamine was used to improve hydrophilicity and hemocompatibility of PES membrane. ► The chemical structure and surface morphology of the coated PDA layer were studied. ► The modified membranes showed enhanced anti-fouling ability and blood compatibility.
