Aquaporin-embedded biomimetic membranes for nanofiltration

► Aquaporin (Aqp)-embedded nanofiltration membranes. ► Surface modification of cellulose acetate membrane to achieve surface compatible for vesicle rupture and polymerization. ► A high water flux of 34 LMH bar−1 and NaCl rejection of more than 30%. ► Effects of Aqp loading on water transport are investigated.
