Antifouling membranes prepared by electrospinning polylactic acid containing biocidal nanoparticles

► We prepared electrospun polylactic acid membranes with functionalized sepiolite. ► Biocidal activity was due to Ag and Cu nanoparticles embedded in sepiolite. ► Significant decrease in surface active biomass in Ag- and Cu/sepiolite loaded PLA. ► Improved pure water permeability for Ag- and Cu/sepiolite loaded PLA.
