Preparation and properties of PVDF composite hollow fiber membranes for desalination through direct contact membrane distillation

► PVDF composite hydrophobic hollow fibers were prepared for membrane distillation. ► Influence of nano-particles on the membranes characteristics was investigated. ► The mechanical properties of the PVDF composite membranes were enhanced obviously. ► The spun fiber presented excellent performance stability and hydrophobicity.
