Preparation and characterization of surface modified electrospun membranes for higher filtration flux

► A new hydrophilic polymeric electrospun membrane with high flux was developed. ► Surface modifying macromolecules (SMMs) were blended with PVDF and electrospun. ► Different SMMs had a different effect on the surface properties of the membrane. ► This difference was due to different structural orientations of SMMs along the fiber.
