Disulfonated poly(arylene ether sulfone) random copolymer thin film composite membrane fabricated using a benign solvent for reverse osmosis applications

► Chlorine-resistant disulfonated copolymer thin film composites are fabricated for membrane desalination. ► An environmentally friendly solvent is used for the solution coating. ► The selective solvent does not harm the non-sulfonated microporous polysulfone support. ► Unique processes to maximize permeation/rejection performances are discussed.
