Suppressiveness of steam-exploded biomass of Miscanthus sinensis var. giganteus against soil-borne plant pathogens

► Mixes of furfurals were detected in the steam-exploded biomass of Mischantus (SEB). ► Three soil-borne plant pathogens were highly inhibited in vitro by the furfurals. ► Three pathosystems were significantly suppressed in vivo by the SEB respect to compost. ► The SEB could be used in place of compost against some soil-borne fungal diseases. ► These studies are fundamental for their applications in the sustainable agriculture.
