Seasonal occurrence of the invasive ctenophore Mnemiopsis leidyi in the western Dutch Wadden Sea

► Mnemiopsis leidyi was present year-round in the western Wadden Sea in 2009. ► The first quantitative data on M. leidyi in the Dutch Wadden Sea is presented. ► There were several blooms of M. leidyi, including one in early summer.
