Modelling rotating stratified flows at laboratory-scale using spectrally-based DNS

► We propose a spectral approach for process modeling of rotating stratified flows. ► We discuss inhomogeneous boundary conditions and symmetry mismatches. ► We incorporate smooth immersed boundary surfaces into our spectral approach. ► Several laboratory experiments are simulated numerically.
