Horseradish peroxidase immobilized on the silane-modified ceramics for the catalytic oxidation of simulated oily water
چکیده انگلیسی

Horseradish peroxidase (HRP) is proved a feasible enzyme for the oil removal in wastewater. To immobilize the HRP on suitable carriers can make the enzyme reusable. In this work, HRP was successfully immobilized on silane-modified ceramics with the method of covalent bonding and cross-linking to remove oil from wastewater. The removal conditions were optimized. Under the optimized conditions, the highest oil removal efficacy was 91.6%. With the addition of polyethylene glycol (PEG), the oil removal efficacy reached as high as 93.6%, but PEG did not influence the efficacy much. The immobilized HRP performed a good reusability. The cost of the oil removal by immobilized HRP was much lower than that by free HRP. The immobilized HRP for the oil removal was superior to the immobilized laccase in both efficacy and cost. The immobilization of HRP advanced here was proved a good method for oily wastewater treatment with industrial application prospects.

► A method based on oil removal from oily water was developed.
► Horseradish peroxidase (HRP) is immobilized onto porous ceramics firmly.
► Immobilized HRP can be used to remove oil from simulated oily water effectively.
► This method can get a better result compared with that by free enzyme.
► Immobilized HRP can be reused many times and this can save costs.
