Detrital zircon ages and geochronological constraints on the Neoproterozoic Puga diamictites and associated BIFs in the southern Paraguay Belt, Brazil

► Detrital zircons defined the provenance of sediments at the border of the Amazon Craton and Rio Apa Block. ► A Late Cryogenian Marinoan glaciation is suggested by the 706 Ma maximum age of the Puga diamictites. ► The youngest zircon of Puga diamictites constrains the age of the southern Paraguay BIF deposits.
