HD Diesel engine equipped with a bottoming Rankine cycle as a waste heat recovery system. Part 1: Study and analysis of the waste heat energy

► A method to analyze alternatives to recover waste energy in Diesel engines is described. ► This research considers a typical engine with all its residual heat sources. ► Two solutions have been evaluated: Full and partial waste energy recovery. ► The energy recovered is limited to values between 8% and 9% of total waste energy.
