Cu-doped CeO2 spheres: Synthesis, characterization, and catalytic activity

► Cu-doped CeO2 spheres were synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method. ► The spheres consist of many tiny particles. ► The doping copper increases the redox capability and chemisorption sites for CO. ► The excellent catalytic activity is associated with the porous spherical structures.
