The application of a limestone weathering index at churchyards in central Oxford, UK

► This is an example of an archaeogeomorphological study. ► The S-E index is tested as a newly introduced weathering assessment tool. ► It is compared with an inscription legibility method. ► Results convey a score of 4 for mostly represented headstones (from the 1800s). ► There are more weathered west-facing (than east-facing) headstones.
