Kinetics of soybean oil hydrolysis in subcritical water

► An empirical kinetic model was developed for hydrolysis of soybean oil in subcritical water. ► The hydrolysis appears autocatalyzed by fatty acid product as incorporated in the kinetic model. ► Autocatalytic behavior was confirmed experimentally with the initial addition of fatty acid product to test mixtures.
