► Thermal decomposition of biodiesel was studied at 250-425 °C. ► Biodiesel is stable below 275 °C. ► The decomposition involves isomerization, polymerization and pyrolysis reactions. ► Isomerization and polymerization occur at 275-400 and 300-425 °C, respectively. ► Pyrolysis of biodiesel starts at 350 °C.
