Synthesis of hydrothermally stable MCM-41 by the seed crystallization and its application as a catalyst support for hydrodesulfurization

► Synthesis of hydrothermally stable MCM-41(MCM-41(HS)) by seed crystallization. ► Mesopore system remained highly ordered in the MCM-41(HS). ► Comparatively higher HDS activity of MCM-41(HS) supported Mo catalyst. ► Better butene selectivity by MCM-41(HS) supported Mo catalyst in thiophene HDS.
