Volumetric combustion of biomass for CO2 and NOx reduction in coal-fired boilers

► A new concept of volumetric combustion technology was proposed. ► Wood pellets combustion in high temperature oxidizer were investigated. ► Aspen model was used to describe and studied volumetric combustion system. ► Two application concepts of volumetric combustion were discussed. ► Volumetric combustion would be a useful biomass combustion technology with high boiler efficiency, and lower NOx emission.
