► Phase equilibria of systems (water + pyruvic acid + high alcohol) were determined. ► SERLAS model with 5- and 10-parameters has been performed. ► The extraction equilibria were also predicted through the UNIFAC-original model. ► Separation factors are proposed for prediction of optimum extraction. ► The results were statistically analyzed.
