Electrochemical properties of palladium adlayers on Pt(1Â 1Â 0) substrates

► Electrochemical characterization of Pd slowly deposited on Pt(1 1 0) is attempted. ► Potential of zero total charge values are determined at different Pd coverages. ► Cu UPD, NO reduction and CO stripping are used to determine monolayer coverage. ► CO oxidation of Pd modified electrodes was further studied by FTIR spectroscopy. ► The completion of the first palladium monolayer is signaled by a minimum in the voltammetric charge.
