Electrochemical studies on the interaction of an antibacterial drug nitrofurantoin with DNA

► The interaction of nitrofurantoin (NTF) with DNA was investigated by electrochemical and UV spectroscopic techniques. ► It is concluded that the mode of binding of NTF to DNA was through intercalative binding. ► There is a mutual complement between both techniques. ►The proposed study may serve as a reference for the interaction of NTF with DNA base pairs in the natural environment of living cells.
