Extraction of jojoba oil with liquid CO2Â +Â propane solvent mixtures

- Jojoba oil was extracted with high pressure CO2/C3 mixed solvents.
- Extraction conditions were selected based on an analysis of the phase behavior.
- Solvent mixtures with up to 70% CO2 exhibit complete miscibility with jojoba oil.
- Pretreatments of jojoba oilseeds increase the oil extraction yields.
- Solvent power is reduced by the presence of CO2 in the solvent mixture.
