Improved understanding of fire suppression mechanism with an idealized extinguishing agent

► The turbulence-chemistry interactions were investigated with ODT model. ► An idealized extinguishing agent was designed to test the extinguishing mechanism. ► The fire suppression effect is more significant under a higher Reynolds number. ► The chain-carrying radical are very sensitive to the agents and decrease fast. ► There are strong differential diffusion effects in the near field.
