Analysis of forced convection heat transfer from a circular cylinder embedded in a porous medium

► Transient forced convection from a cylinder embedded in a porous medium is examined. ► In general, the presence of the porous medium enhances considerably the heat transfer. ► Fluid Nusselt number Nf increases with increasing kr using the 1-equation energy model. ► However, its trend with kr is governed by Biot number Bi using the 2-equation model. ► The increase in Bi deceases Nf and increases Ns, and high kr and Bi lead to the LTE state.
