Rational approach to optimize cellulase mixtures for hydrolysis of regenerated cellulose containing residual ionic liquid

► The IL MMIM DMP reduces EG I, CBH I and BG activity while maintaining enzyme stability. ► A model with enzyme loading-dependent reaction rate describes cellulase kinetics. ► A higher EG I fraction increases yield and reaction rate in IL-pretreated cellulose. ► The hydrolysis yield of regenerated cellulose with residual IL improved by 10% points.
