Dynamic modeling, simulation, and MIMO predictive control of a tubular solid oxide fuel cell

► We control a 2D tubular SOFC model using constrained model predictive control. ► CVs are main contributors to cell degradation per FEA and require a 2D plant model. ► SOFC controlled variables have multivariable interactions with manipulated variables. ► Lumped cell or outlet gas temperatures are not effective tubular SOFC CVs. ► Linear MPC achieves load-following subject to disturbances near nominal conditions.
