HClO4-SiO2 catalyzed chemoselective synthesis of acylals from aldehydes under solvent-free conditions

A mild and efficient method has been devised for the preparation of acylals from aldehydes in the presence of catalytic amounts of HClO4-SiO2 under solvent-free conditions in very good to excellent yield.
