Synthesis of polyaniline/montmorillonite nanocomposites with an enhanced anticorrosive performance

- Novel nanocomposites were prepared from a conducting polymer and eco-friendly clay.
- Exfoliated polyaniline/montmorillonite nanocomposites (PANI/Mt) were synthesized.
- Thermal stability of the PANI/Mt composites was enhanced with increasing Mt levels.
- From cyclic voltammetry, PANI/Mt composites showed enhanced corrosion protection.
- Reduced corrosion was due to the increased diffusion pathway tortuosity.
