Corrosion studies on tailored Zn·Co aluminate/kaolin core-shell pigments in alkyd based paints

► New pigments were prepared based on the reaction of cobalt and zinc with alumina found naturally in kaolin. ► Pigments containing higher zinc content and those containing nano-aluminates show better protection. ► The group containing 75% of pigments was better than the group containing 50%.
