Enhanced metal removal from aqueous solution by Fenton activated macrophyte biomass

► Macrophyte biomass was activated by Fenton process. ► Zn2+ adsorption capacity was 78 % higher than by raw biomass. ► Adsorption process was spontaneous and endothermic. ► Adsorption kinetics was rapid and fitted the pseudo-second order model.
