Reduction of excess sludge production in sequencing batch reactor (SBR) by lysis-cryptic growth using homogenization disruption

► HPH pretreatment was firstly used in lysis-cryptic growth system. ► Solution models of nutriment after HPH pretreatment were reported. ► Excess sludge reduced 42.4% by lysis-cryptic growth for 75 days. ► The effect of lysis-cryptic growth on effluent and sludge activity were both detected.
