Anaerobic digestion of poplar processing residues for methane production after alkaline treatment

► This is the first report of using poplar processing residues for methane production. ► The residues weren't good material for methane production without NaOH treatment. ► Enhancement of methane production can be achieved after alkaline treatment. ► The highest methane production was achieved at 35 g/L with 5.0% alkaline dose.
