Induction of laccase activity in the white rot fungus Pleurotus ostreatus using water polluted with wheat straw extracts

► Wheat straw water extracts induce efficiently laccase activity in fungal cultures. ► The wheat straw water extract inducer effect is accumulative. ► The isoenzyme Lacc10 is the main responsible for the laccase induced activity. ► Wheat industry polluted water effluents can be used to induce ligninolytic enzymes.
